Park City Peak Packages at the Sky Lodge

Try some Park City peaks for those winter season dips: Stay three days and you can “Stay Free & Ride Free” at Sky Lodge.
All it takes is a ticket to Salt Lake City and you can be checked in and up the slopes within an hour of landing. But there is more to the beauty of Park City, a preserved mid-18th century silver mining boomtown that struck it rich in the modern era with some of the best skiing in the U.S. The town is awash in lodges, cafes, bistros and boutiques just steps away from the gondolas. The snow is dry and powdery and the peaks get plenty of it.
And when you come down from the altitudes, you may want to rendez-vous, if not stay, at the Sky Lodge. The lodge bespeaks the clean wood and glass design that characterizes this otherwise historic community. As a full-service property, the four dining venues, spa and event areas keep it lively as a gathering spot for all manor of purpose.
As for the rooms, the lodge is the residential kind that offers suites with fireplaces, cozy kitchenettes and multi-room configurations. Its 33 one- to three-bedroom guest accommodations also offer something else. Most come with killer bathrooms: double showers, Jacuzzi for two, even a ceiling waterfall that runs into the bathtub. For skiers in love this just might be the place.
To that end, Sky Lodge has the “Eat-Ski-Love” package for $749.99 per night (taxes and fees not included), with a two-night minimum that includes:
- A one-bedroom suite with private hot tub on the balcony
- Nightly hot tub turndown, including a split bottle of Champagne
- Dinner for two at Zoom, (owned and operated by Robert Redford’s Sundance Resort)
- Dinner for two at Sky Lodge’s Easy Street Brasserie
- Two lift tickets to Park City Mountain Resort or Deer Valley
- $100 credit towards a treatment at Amatsu Spa, (recommended: Couples Serenity or Couples Escape)
That package runs February 11 through the end of the month. However a Stay Three, Stay Free & Ride Free package goes through April 10 (the end of the ski season here). Those who book this three-night stay, which includes daily lift tickets to Park City Mountain Resort (located across the street from the hotel) or Deer Valley resort, will receive their 4th night free, including a free “ticket to ride” at either mountain.
Rates for a one-bedroom suite in season start at $630 per night.

San Diego: The Manor Born at Grand Del Mar

It’s a strange mirage on this California coast of economic woes: The Grand Del Mar just north of San Diego seems like an iconic throw back to the days of Golden California Grandeur – when money was made the easy way and celebrities still wore diamonds around their necks to the Academy Awards.
But this sprawling, but hidden resort is no mirage. It opened just over two years ago not 20 or 80 and it bespeaks the good life still active and roaring in this SoCal locale. It’s just not flaunting its jewels. The Grand Del Mar is quiet wealth the old way, according to the vision of architect Addison Mizner and the money of a smart San Diego developer. Read moreRead more
